Music Provision for Nurseries & Pre-Schools

At Little Lambs Music, we understand the pressures on nursery and pre-school staff and the need for high-quality, enriching experiences that genuinely support children’s development.

Music plays a vital role in early years — supporting communication and language, social interaction, emotional regulation, and personal, social and emotional development.

Our sessions are designed to give children meaningful, joyful musical experiences while fitting seamlessly into nursery life.

We come directly into your setting to deliver structured, expert-led music sessions, ensuring consistent, high-quality provision without adding to staff workload.

Sessions are inclusive, progressive, and carefully planned so children revisit songs, musical ideas, and instruments over time — building confidence, listening skills, and engagement.

Why Choose Little Lambs Music?

Our approach reflects best practice in early years music education — focusing on repetition, depth, and participation rather than performance, helping children feel secure, confident, and ready to learn.

Music Training for Nursery & Pre-School Staff

Before founding Little Lambs Music, I was a primary school teacher, so I truly understand how important the work of early years practitioners is and the realities of busy settings.

Alongside in-setting sessions, we offer whole-setting music training to support staff confidence and professional development. This training helps practitioners understand:

How music supports language and communication.

How it encourages social interaction and turn-taking.

How it supports emotional regulation and wellbeing.

How to use music purposefully throughout the day.

Training is practical, clear, and immediately usable — giving staff a plethora of songs, musical games, and simple instrument activities that are quick to implement and easy to embed into daily routines.

    How Our Sessions Work

Each Little Lambs Music session lasts 30 minutes and is carefully structured to support engagement, learning, and enjoyment. Sessions are broken down into familiar songs that are repeated each week, allowing children to build confidence through repetition while feeling secure and excited about what comes next. We use a rich mixture of instrument songs, action songs, and movement-based activities to encourage participation and whole-body learning.

The second part of each session focuses on our core story, with all props prepared and the session’s theme songs centred around the story. Children explore the theme through music, interactive games, and imaginative play, helping to develop listening skills, language, and early communication. We then introduce a variety of additional songs, including movement-based activities that support fine motor development, onset and rhyme awareness, and coordination.

To gently bring the session to a close, we finish with our much-loved Twinkle Time, where the lights go off, children enjoy our sparkling cape and bubbles, and the atmosphere becomes calm and magical. Each session ends with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and a warm goodbye song, helping children transition smoothly back into their day.

Our sessions also include engaging games such as parachute play, movement-based activities, musical instrument exploration, and “copy me” actions, all carefully chosen to support learning through play in a fun, inclusive, and structured way.
